Hyderabad: A minor girl, who came to India illegally from Bangladesh travelling in a boat by crossing over a river at night in February 2025 via West Bengal, managed to escape from the clutches of prostitution racketeers in Hyderabad on Saturday. The girl gave a slip to an auto rickshaw driver, who forced her into flesh trade and approached Hyderabad police seeking help. Based on her statement, the police raided a hotel in Mehdipatnam and rescued three more women from West Bengal. In all, the police arrested Hajera Begum (41) of Bandlaguda, Shahnaaz Fathima (32) of Mehdipatnam and auto rickshaw driver Mohammed Sameer (23) of Kanchanbagh. Two more persons – Rupa of Dhaka in Bangladesh and Sarwar of Hyderabad are absconding, according to Chandrayangutta Assistant Commissioner of Police A Sudhakar. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said the minor girl informed the police that she was a native of Dhaka in Bangladesh. She said that she used to speak to her neighbor Rupa while returning from school. Rupa, who used to do saree work, speaks softly praising her beauty quite often. In February-2025, Rupa informed the girl that India was a very good place to visit and asked to accompany her for visiting the country. She also asked the girl not to reveal the same to anybody at her house or else they will not let her go. The girl agreed to it. She along with Rupa came to India illegally by a boat by crossing over a river at night by representing herself as Rupa’s daughter. After crossing over to India, the girl along with Rupa went to Kolkata and later they came to Hyderabad by train. After reaching Hyderabad, they went to Shahnaaz’s house at Mehdipatnam. Rupa then handed over the girl to her and left. Sameer later came to Shahnaaz’s house and took the girl to the house of Hajera at Ismail Nagar. Threatening the girl to implicate in a case related to illegal migration and send her to jail, she forced the girl into flesh trade. The girl was shifted to Shahnaaz’s house where she was forced to indulge in prostitution at hotel rooms. While the same continued since February shuttling between Shahnaaz and Hajera’s houses in Sameer’s auto rickshaw, she saw Bandlaguda police station board while travelling in the auto. As she decided to take the police help, the girl managed to escape when Sameer went to park his auto. She crossed the road and came to the Bandlaguda police station. The police recorded her statement and registered a case and arrested the accused on charges of immoral trafficking.
