Karimnagar: In a shocking incident on Thursday, 70-year-old Prema Latha, the mother of Congress leader and Kodimial Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society chairman Manneni Raja Narsinga Rao, was brutally murdered and her body thrown into a well in the fields near her home in Nachupally village, Kodimyal mandal, Jagtial district.Locals discovered her body after bloodstains and drag marks were spotted on the road leading to an abandoned well. According to police, the assailants struck her head with a rock, then dragged her body and dumped it into the now-filled well; it was later relocated to an old, overgrown water tank beside her house. Prema Latha, who lived alone, had called a neighbour shortly before her death, reporting that someone had been threatening her for days. Investigators believe one or two perpetrators were involved and had prior knowledge of the area. A dog squad has been deployed to search the vicinity as police continue their investigation. The murder has sent shockwaves through the district, coming on the heels of the recent killing of Gangareddy, a close aide of former MLA Jeevan Reddy.
