Hyderabad: The Telangana Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), in collaboration with Pi Jam Foundation, conducted a two-day intensive capacity-building programme for government school teachers.The focus was equipping educators with the tools, mindsets and methods to effectively implement the newly launched Digital Learning Textbooks for Grades 1 to 9, an initiative of the education department. Held across two days, the training was aligned with real-world contexts, ensuring that teachers didn’t just learn about concepts but also experienced them. The workshop included simulated real-life traffic scenarios using physical computing tools like sensors and LEDs, allowing teachers to explore how real-world problems can be translated into coding challenges. It also had AI activities that demystified concepts such as machine learning, data classification and bias without the need for screens or prior technical knowledge. Also, roleplays and collaborative games on ethical AI decision-making and exploring human biases in algorithms fostered deep discussion and reflection. Additionally, Design Thinking helped teachers tackle everyday school challenges, model empathy and rapidly prototype contextual solutions. To support ongoing learning and ensure equitable access, the department also introduced the ‘telangana.codemitra.org’ a dedicated digital platform where students, teachers, and parents can access the same experiential learning modules. “The energy in the room was palpable,” shared a participating teacher. “ I saw how I could teach AI not just through screens, but through stories, games and the real lives of our children,” said Madhusudan from Model School, Gundala, Yadadri Bhuvanagari.Hyderabad Court Sends Two to Jail in 10-Year-Old Cheating Case Hyderabad: The VII Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Hayathnagar, in separate cases convicted Gopani Narasimha and Bodige Narasimha and sentenced them to two years of rigorous imprisonment in a decade-old cheating case registered by Vanasthalipuram police. While Gopani Narasimha was the borrower, Bodige Narasimha stood surety.Gopani Narasimha purchased a lorry in 2014 by availing a loan of `2.8 lakh from a finance firm. He paid EMIs for three months and eventually stopped repayments. In another instance, he took borrowed another `5 lakh to purchase a lorry but abandoned payments after a single EMI payment. Foundation Stones Laid for Road Projects in Shaikpet, Yousufguda Hyderabad: Foundation stones were laid for multiple road projects on Monday in Shaikpet and Yousufguda. Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao and Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy laid the foundation for CC and VDCC roads that will be constructed using GHMC funds.Multiple CC roads and a vacuum-dewatered cement concrete (VDCC) road are expected to come up at Vinayaknagar and Shaikpet with a budget of ₹1.05 crore. Additionally, road works will be taken up in Yousufguda circle worth ₹1.11 crore. This would be supplemented by renovation works for Vinayaknagar Park. Nageswara Rao said the government would extend complete support for the development of the Jubilee Hills constituency. Venkatswamy said that development works would be carried out uninterrupted. He instructed officials to expedite the completion of roads, drainage and street lighting.World Breastfeeding Week Kicks Off at AIIMS Bibinagar Hyderabad: AIIMS Bibinagar has commenced the observance of World Breastfeeding Week which will end on August 7. The departments of neonatology, paediatrics, obstetrics & gynaecology, community medicine and family medicine and the College of Nursing collaborated to organise events around the theme for raising public awareness. On Monday, a formal series of week-long events was launched.The department of neonatology and the College of Nursing organised a workshop on breastfeeding counselling for nursing officers and paediatric residents on Monday. The department of obstetrics organised a rangoli competition. The session covered key topics including how to take notes on patients’ breastfeeding practices, assess them and guide them. The participants discussed how to counsel women for various breastfeeding-related issues. The workshop also included practical demonstrations and skill-building sessions. A pre- and post-workshop evaluation revealed significant improvement in the participants’ knowledge, highlighting the effectiveness of the workshop in enhancing healthcare workers’ competence in breastfeeding support.TGMFC to Launch Advanced Training in AI, Data Science & More Hyderabad: Telangana Minorities Finance Corporation(TGMFC) on Monday announced plans to introduce advanced training programmes in artificial intelligence, digital marketing, data science and supply chain management. Corporation chairman Obedulla Kothwal made the announcement after distributing 920 certificates to students who trained in various skill development courses. The distribution ceremony was attended by B. Shafiullah, secretary, minority welfare, and A. Kanthi Wesley, corporation managing director.
