Kakinada: In a shocking incident, a son has plotted to kill his father in order to collect an insurance payout to alleviate his debts. This event occurred in Sakurru village, located in the Amalapuram rural mandal of the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district.According to Y. Sekhar Babu, the rural inspector of Amalapuram, Vipparthi Harsha Vardhan took out a loan of ₹13 lakh from a private finance company. After making two installment payments, he was unable to continue clearing his debt. When he secured the loan, he also took out an insurance policy in his father’s name, Venkata Ramana. Harsha Vardhan believed that if his father died, he would be relieved of the debt and could claim the insurance money. On April 21, 2025, while his father was riding his bike, Harsha Vardhan deliberately ran him over with a car. His father lost consciousness. Later, Harsha Vardhan reported to the police that someone had attacked his father. Recently, his father emerged from a coma. During the police investigation, Harsh Vardhan’s involvement in the incident was uncovered. Sekhar Babu stated that a case was filed against Harsh Vardhan, who was subsequently presented before the court. The court ordered him to be remanded on Saturday.
