Hyderabad: An 18-year-old labourer died after the motorcycle he and two others were riding rammed into a stationary truck in Jeedimetla on Sunday morning.According to inspector G. Mallesh, the deceased was identified as Shivam Ram, a resident of Maqdumnagar in Jagathgirigutta. He was accompanied by Suraj (19), the rider, and Golu Kumar (18), both mechanics, residents of Jagathgirigutta and natives of Bihar. Police said none of the three was wearing a helmet and they failed to notice the parked truck, leading to the collision. Shivam died on the spot, while the other two sustained serious injuries. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway. Shivam’s body was shifted to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. BTech student drowns swimming in Musi Hyderabad: A BTech final-year student is feared drowned after going for a swim in the Musi River at Upparpally, Rajendranagar, on Sunday afternoon.The student has been identified as Akshit Reddy, a resident of Borabanda, who had come to Rajendranagar with three friends. The group entered the river to swim when Akshit reportedly ventured into deeper water and subsequently went missing. The friends alerted the Rajendranagar police, who in turn informed the fire station and the Disaster Response Force (DRF). A search operation was launched. Rajendranagar Leading fireman Pavan told Deccan Chronicle they received a distress call around 3 pm: “Those present were in shock and unable to explain much. They said he might have gone 10 feet under; we checked up to 15-20 feet but could not find him.” Officials said the search was halted due to poor light and will resume on Monday morning. Police added that Akshit’s companions have been summoned to the station, and detailed statements are being recorded. A case is expected to be registered on Monday. Further investigation is underway.
