Karimnagar: As part of its ‘Hands in Soil, Hearts with India’ initiative and the nationwide ‘One-Million Child Tree-Planting Movement’, the Children’s Islamic Organisation (CIO), in collaboration with Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, organised an environmental rally in Karimnagar on Sunday.Students from various schools within the Muslim community participated in the rally, marching from Geeta Bhavan crossroads to the Collectorate while chanting slogans such as “Har bacha ek ped lagao – aur dharti ko bachao” (Every child should plant a tree and save the Earth). Speaking at the event, Sohaib Ahmed Khan, district president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, said the nationwide campaign aims to instill in children a sense of responsibility, environmental consciousness, and a love for nature. He emphasised that the initiative also seeks to inspire citizens to embrace tree planting as both a joyful and meaningful contribution to the nation’s well-being. He noted that the planet is continuously warming, trees are vanishing, and air quality is deteriorating. As forests disappear, future generations will face greater challenges in combating climate change. Children, he said, can play a vital role in reversing these trends. By planting and nurturing trees, they not only contribute to the environment but also develop important values such as responsibility, empathy, and kindness. Over time, they will grow into strong advocates for environmental preservation. He called on students, parents, teachers, school administrators, and community leaders to actively support the campaign and encourage children from an early age to appreciate nature, thereby fostering long-term, positive societal change.
