New Substation to Address Low Voltage Issues in Kanigiri

Nellore: Energy minister Gottipati Ravikumar stated that the state government was taking continuous measures to ensure quality power supply that meets public demand. He laid the foundation stone for a 33/11 kV power substation at Kanigiri, to be built at a cost of Rs 3.80 crore on 70 cents of land on Monday.The event was attended by social welfare minister Dr Dola Sreebala Veeranjaneya Swamy, MLA Mukku Ugra Narasimha Reddy and Markapuram MLA Kandula Narayana Reddy. Minister Ravikumar said that the substation would be completed within four to five months and would resolve low-voltage issues in both Kanigiri town and Punugodu industrial area. So far, 12 substations have been sanctioned in the erstwhile Prakasam district. He emphasised that new substations were being planned based on load requirements, without placing additional financial burden on the public. Since the formation of the coalition government in the state, over 70,000 agricultural power connections have been provided across the state. To promote solar energy, the state government plans to install 10,000 solar connections in each constituency under the PM Surya Ghar scheme. Additionally, solar generation under the PM-KUSUM scheme will be prioritised near substations to reduce transmission losses, he said. AP CPDCL SE Katta Venkateswarlu, RDO Keshavardhan Reddy, municipal chairman Abdul Ghafoor, ZPTC Kasturi Reddy, MPP Dantuluri Prakasham and other officials and public representatives took part in the programme.
