Hyderabad: In a fresh development in the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) irregularities case, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) police on Saturday questioned several HCA officials and staff at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium over alleged unauthorised fund transfers involving HCA president A. Jagan mohan Rao.A team of CID officials visited the Uppal stadium, examined financial records and questioned officials and council members who were present at the HCA office for an emergency meeting. The agency also reviewed relevant files and documentation pertaining to financial dealings under Rao’s leadership. CID officials discovered that Jaganmohan Rao had allegedly instructed staff at a bank to disburse crores of rupees from the HCA’s account to 136 cricket clubs using blank cheques without any authorisation letter. The bank reportedly processed the transactions based on his verbal instructions. Sources said the CID had earlier questioned the bank staff, who confirmed that they had disbursed the funds as per Rao’s directions without receiving signed cheques or written instructions. The CID is now preparing to file a petition seeking police custody of five accused, including Jaganmohan Rao, for further interrogation. On this occasion, several HCA employees also brought the violations of Jaganmohan Rao to the notice of CID officers. One of the cases involves an administrative officer who was sacked by Jaganmohan Rao but immediately secured a High Court order for reinstatement. Even after the court’s order, Rao failed to comply with the order. CID officials are also expected to obtain and analyse the call data of the accused as part of the ongoing investigation.
