Bhubaneswar: In a heartwarming moment that melted hearts both on-ground and online, a young girl named Neelam Bastia shared a delightful exchange with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the ‘Samvidhan Bachao’ (Save Constitution) rally in Bhubaneswar on Friday. The visual of little Neelam and Rahul Gandhi chatting warmly on stage has since gone viral, lighting up social media feeds with smiles. According to reports, their interaction lasted nearly two minutes — enough time for chocolates, a gentle hug, and a candid chat. Neelam even surprised Rahul with an affectionate kiss, drawing cheers from the crowd.“Rahul Gandhi asked my name and which class I study in. I told him I’m Neelam Bastia from Class VI. He asked my favourite subject — I told him it’s Mathematics and that I score well in it,” said the visibly ecstatic girl.Neelam further revealed that her mother is a big fan of Rahul Gandhi. “When I told him that, he smiled and asked for a kiss, and I happily gave one. Rahulji gave me a chocolate and encouraged me to study well. When he asked about my future plans, I told him I want to enter politics like him. I’ll share the chocolate he gave me with my mother,” she added with a grin.The moment added a tender, human touch to the high-voltage political event, where both Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge were given a rousing welcome by party workers and supporters at the Bhubaneswar airport. This marked Rahul’s first visit to Odisha since the BJP formed its maiden government in the state in June 2024.
