Vijayawada: Eight vital organs of a fifty-six year-old man, who died in a road accident and was declared brain-dead, have been donated to eight needy patients.Sonti Jyothi Bhanu, a resident of Governorpeta in the city had been rushed to the Ramesh Hospitals in Guntur after the mishap. The doctors declared him brain-dead on Wednesday.A team of doctors informed Bhanu’s family members and kin about the facility for organ donation. The family gave its consent.Jeevandan state coordinator Dr K Rambabu, gave the requisite permission for organ donation. Following this, all the eight organs including heart, kidneys, liver, lungs and corneas were extracted from Bhanu’s body and allotted to various hospitals based on the Jeevandan protocol.A green channel was arranged from the Ramesh Hospitals in Guntur to the Vijayawada airport to airlift some of these organs to the allotted hospitals.
