KARIMNAGAR: In the past 10 days, 31 children have been rescued in the district under the ‘Operation Muskan’ programme. After being presented to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), their parents received counselling and all the children were safely reunited with their families. Additionally, three cases have been registered against individuals who employed children under 18 years of age, said superintendent of police Mahesh B. Gite.On Thursday, the SP chaired a review meeting with officials from the various departments involved in Operation Muskan at the District Police Office in Rajanna Sircilla district. Speaking at the meeting, SP Gite directed thorough and surprise inspections of industries, hotels, business complexes, warehouses, mechanic shops, and brick kilns throughout the district. He noted that the Central government conducts ‘Operation Smile’ and ‘Operation Muskan’ twice a year to eradicate child labour, identify missing children, and reunite them with their families. “Successful implementation of ‘Operation Muskan-XI’ requires close coordination among all departments,” he stressed. Teams comprising officials from the police, the CWC, labour, education, district child protection departments, and identified NGOs have been conducting inspections since July 1 and will continue search operations until July 31, he added. Present at the meeting were Sircilla RDO Venkateshwarlu; CWC chairperson Anjaiah; CI Nageshwar Rao; SI Limbadri; Lakpathi; assistant labour officer Nazeer Ahmed; Nayeem Zahar (Medical & Health); Shailaja (Education Department); ASI Prameela; and Women Empowerment Centre coordinator Roja, among others.
