Hyderabad: Extreme pressure mounted by the family members to earn money forced a gig worker to inflict injuries on him at Attapur on Saturday night and later enact a drama stating that unidentified persons attacked him and made away with cash and motorcycle. Nineteen-year-old Nazeem, a native of Bihar, was residing in Hasannagar and working as a delivery boy for an e-commerce app delivering groceries for the last two years. He first purchased a blade and inflicted injuries on him and later dialed 100 stating that unidentified persons attacked him. He also informed the police that the accused stole cash and his bike after attacking him with blades. On receiving information, the police rushed to the spot and enquired about the incident. Initially, the police suspect it was the handiwork of blade-batch gang members who might have conducted the offence after consuming ganja. But after a detailed examination of the spot and collecting details from Nazeem, the police officials found something fishy. They grilled Nazeem who later admitted he inflicted injuries on him due to tension from the family members to earn money to meet the expenses of the forthcoming festival. “I am sorry for what I did. It was because of pressure from the family members only I did it and no one attacked me,” Nazeem said.
