Hyderabad:Sonu Sood was back in Hyderabad on Tuesday, this time as a part of the Miss World 2025 jury. “I started my journey here. The best films I’ve done, the recognition I got, and the love from Andhra and Telangana, this is where it all took shape, so this is an incredible moment for us,” he said.Wishing Nandini Gupta, Miss India World, 2025, all the best, he noted that he hadn’t interacted with other contestants although he said he was looking forward to it. “It doesn’t matter who wins. People from 140 countries are here. It’s a proud moment for Telangana and for the country. We have to give them an experience they’ll always remember.” He spoke of Hyderabad as a place known for its hospitality, a city that always makes outsiders feel welcome, and hoped that every visitor would carry that warmth back with them.Later this month, Sood will be presented with the Humanitarian Award at the Miss World 2025 Grand Finale. The award recognises his philanthropic work through the Sood Charity Foundation that reached thousands during the pandemic and beyond. “Till we don’t make ordinary people special, India won’t change,” he said, humbly. And in a sense, that aligns with Miss World in ways more than one, where beauty carries ‘Purpose’ and also empowers ordinary women from ordinary backgrounds to become extraordinary voices on the global stage.“Receiving the Humanitarian Award from the Miss World Organisation reinforces the purpose behind our efforts which is to bring hope, support, and dignity to those in need,” he added. He also announced that the Sood Charity Foundation and the Miss World Organisation have partnered to promote awareness around breast cancer through a campaign he has personally launched. “Most women in the country don’t get timely access to surgery,” he said. “We’re trying to change that. You come in, get the procedure done, and you’re back home having breakfast the next morning.” His goal is to make treatment simple, fast, and accessible. He described the fear around medical care as something that could be addressed through awareness and trust.Further, about the larger role of pageants today, Sood said they are no longer about glamour or scripted answers alone. What a contestant says and how she carries herself outside the stage matters just as much. “Everyone’s a critic now. Social media makes it harder. You are constantly being watched. What matters is how you deal with that and still stay grounded.”The same city that once gave him his break is now the place where his work for others is being recognised on a global platform. And as Hyderabad hosts one of the biggest international events of the year, Sood’s presence reminds us that true beauty, whether of a person or a city, lies in the impact it leaves behind.
