Vijayawada: Except for two women, all the 867 pilgrims who had registered for the Amarnath Yatra from July 4 to 7 from several parts of Andhra Pradesh have been traced after the flash floods there.
One woman was found dead while efforts were on to identify a body placed in AIIMS in New Delhi.
The AP government maintains that out of the 867 pilgrims who went for the Yatra, except for the 37 pilgrims found by Sunday, all others were traced. Out of the 37 pilgrims, two women from Rajamahendravaram were missing. The remaining 35 pilgrims have been traced by Monday.
The body of the woman found in Srinagar hospital was identified as of Gunisetty Sudha hailing from Rajamahendravaram by her family members. The AP government has arranged for transport of her body from Srinagar to Hyderabad and to Visakhapatnam by air and to her native town in Rajamahendravaram by road.
A body of a woman was placed in AIIMS in Delhi and she is suspected to be the other missing woman from Rajamahendravaram. The woman’s family members were being taken to Delhi to identify the body.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Jagan Reddy expressed grief over the death of Sudha from AP and he directed the officials to ensure her body is taken to her native place.
