The vigilance and enforcement (V&E) department on Friday seized 900 quintals of rice meant for the public distribution system (PDS) worth ₹51 lakh from a miller in Nizamabad.Director General Shikha Goel said the raids were conducted along with civil supplies officials on a non-functional rice miller found illegally transporting PDS rice. The vehicle carrying the rice was detained, and cases were directed to be registered by Nizamabad civil supplies officials.In a parallel operation, vigilance officials conducted raids on overloaded vehicles at the Raikal toll plaza in Jadcherla. Commercial tax officials imposed a penalty of ₹2.10 lakh, transport officials levied ₹4 lakh, and the Mines Department imposed ₹35,000 for illegal sand transportation.
