WARANGAL: A total of 177 children were rescued from various workplaces within the Warangal Police Commissionerate limits under the ‘Operation Muskan-11’ initiative, Police Commissioner Sunpreet Singh announced in a statement released in Hanamkonda on Sunday. He stated that between July 1 and July 31, police teams from Hanamkonda, Warangal, and Jangaon districts, in coordination with officials from the Child Protection Unit, Childline, and the Labour Department, conducted a series of inspections at multiple workplaces. During these inspections, the teams rescued 177 children, 149 boys and 28 girls, who were either engaged in child labour or had dropped out of school. Among them, 97 were from other states. Out of the 177 rescued children, 171 have been successfully reunited with their parents, while the remaining have been placed in a child protection home. Commissioner Singh emphasised that these inspections will continue and issued a stern warning to those employing children. He noted that under the Juvenile Justice Act, anyone found employing children as labourers can face up to two years of imprisonment and a fine of ₹50,000.
