A 12-year-old girl studying at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) died under suspicious circumstances, triggering protests by parents and leading to the suspension of four staff members, including the principal. The deceased, Mylapalli Navya, a Class VII student from Pudimadaka village in Anakapalli district, reportedly collapsed in the early hours of Saturday. According to officials and local sources, hostel staff informed her father, Raju, who had to travel nearly 15 km from Pudimadaka to the school. Allegedly, the staff waited for his arrival instead of immediately shifting the girl to hospital. Upon reaching the school, the father rushed his daughter on a motorcycle to a nearby private hospital, spending around ₹20,000, before shifting her to NTR Hospital in Anakapalli. She was declared dead at around 9.30 am, reportedly due to cardiac arrest. While the parents initially suspected a snakebite or bee sting, doctors said no such marks were found. A postmortem examination has been ordered after a complaint was lodged with Achutapuram police. The incident sparked protests, with villagers staging a dharna at the school, alleging negligence by the staff. They alleged that the staff failed to act promptly in shifting the girl to hospital. They further claimed that the hostel premises were overgrown with bushes and littered with garbage, and that snakes had been spotted on several occasions. Following the incident, district educational officer G. Apparao Naidu suspended four staff members, including principal Vidyalay Uma Devi and the in-house ANM, and ordered an inquiry. Paravada DSP Mohan Rao and inspector Chandrasekhar visited the school and conducted a preliminary inquiry. “Only after receiving the post-mortem report can the exact cause of death be ascertained,” the inspector said. RMP Doctor Murdered In Prakasam A 47-year-old RMP doctor was murdered by unidentified assailants in Dharmavaram village of Addanki mandal in Prakasam district in the early hours of Sunday.The victim, M. Kotireddy, a well-known local practitioner, was asleep at his residence when he was attacked. According to police, a group of three masked men knocked on his door during the wee hours of Sunday, posing as patients seeking urgent medical help. As soon as Kotireddy opened the door, the assailants launched a vicious attack, repeatedly beating him with sticks.Kotireddy collapsed on the spot and died instantly due to the severity of the assault. His wife, who witnessed the horrific attack, reportedly fainted in shock.After being alerted, police rushed to the spot. Police said preliminary findings suggest that the murder occurred after 1.00 am, though the exact motive remains unclear.Darsi DSP Bala Muralikrishna, along with circle inspectors Subbaraju and Mallikarjuna Rao, visited the crime scene and supervised the initial probe. A dog squad and clues team were deployed to gather forensic evidence.The body was shifted to the Addanki Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.Police registered a case and launched a manhunt to trace the accused. Brother bludgeoned to death over property dispute in Allagadda A man allegedly bludgeoned his elder brother to death with a stone over a property dispute in Allagadda mandal of Nandyal district on Sunday. The incident took place in R. Krishnapuram village, where Vijay Raju is accused of attacking his elder brother, Daiva Bhaktudu (38), following a long-standing family property dispute. According to police and local sources, tensions between the brothers had been simmering for some time and escalated into violence on Sunday. In a fit of rage, Vijay Raju allegedly picked up a stone from the house and assaulted his brother indiscriminately. Daiva Bhaktudu sustained a severe head injury and died on the spot. Two persons who attempted to intervene were also attacked by the accused and suffered serious injuries. They were shifted to a nearby hospital by locals. Upon receiving information, Allagadda police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem examination. Police said a case has been registered against the accused, who is currently absconding. “Property disputes appear to be the primary motive. Special teams have been deployed to trace and apprehend him,” police officials said. Allagadda CI B.V. Ramana stated that efforts are underway to take the accused into custody at the earliest. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the victim’s family. After some time, four of them ventured into deeper waters to fish and were trapped in slush. While one boy managed to swim back, locals rescued another. The remaining three drowned, and their bodies were later retrieved. Police inspected the spot and registered a case. Investigation is underway. Transport authorities seize sleeper bus in Tirupati, book 40 vehiclesAP Transport department has seized a contract carriage sleeper bus for violating safety norms in Tirupati district. In addition, the department registered cases against 40 vehicles during the past week for various offences.District Transport Officer (DTO) Korrappati Muralimohan ordered the inspection of buses with a focus on passenger safety and enforcement of road safety standards. Three special teams conducted checks on major roads, check-posts and toll plazas across the district.During the drive, Transport staff intercepted a contract carriage sleeper bus travelling from Jagdalpur towards Tirupati. They found that it violated the AIS-119 norms. In other words, it had deficiencies in its body structure, berth arrangement, safety standards, and emergency exit provisions. The department thus seized the bus.During continuing inspections, Transport authorities booked 40 vehicles for various violations. These included absence of fire extinguishers, lack of emergency exits, overloading, safety deficiencies, and non-availability of required documents.
